Biography

Rick Bacus

Growing up with parents playing all the hits from the 30's, 40's and 50's certainly inspired Rick. There were a variety of musical instruments to choose from too as Rick's mother and father loved to sing and play piano, accordion, tenor guitar, banjo, ukulele clarinet and harmonica.  Rick was introduced to to the ukulele very early on and then started clarinet lessons in grade school continuing to study through college as a woodwind major earning a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Baker University.

As we all know, Ed Sullivan introduced The Beatles to America and a huge army of young teenage boys decided that this was THE BEST JOB EVER! Bass guitar was Rick's first choice. His attention turned to guitar about ten years later prior to his years with Morningstar.

Over the past 50 years, Rick has been consistently performing in but not limited to the greater Kansas City area. His passion for all forms of music and his skills have earned him work as a music director, guitarist, bassist, vocalist, audio engineer, producer, educator and music consultant. Rick is also a two time inductee into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame for his work with Kansas City based Stone Wall and Morningstar.
